A family-led winery in the Willunga foothills of McLaren Vale, strongly focused on sustainability throughout the entire operation, Hedonist is not just a staple of the Best Cellars range, but likewise a sure-fire value option for those who like deftly crafted, easy-to-drink and varietally expressive wines. The team in the cellar is Walter Clappis, a veteran winemaker of 36 vintages, daughter, Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. All of the Hedonist wines are made with certified organic and biodynamic fruit, with biodynamic preparations and organic compost made on-site.
The range focusses on accessible and skilfully made varietal expressions, tweaked with subtle technique to bring out the best qualities in each.  Vegan friendly.

Tempranillo has slowly but surely made its way on to the Australian wine scene, carrying it's fame over from Spanish Rioja and Ribera del Duero - often wines of power and complexity. When made in a gentler style like this McLaren Vale example, Tempranillo tends to show fresh red fruits and soft spices like clove and cinnamon, making it a delicious drop on its own or with comfort foods. The fruit for the Hedonist Tempranillo is sourced from our Willunga foothills estate vineyard & an iconic vineyard from Kangarilla’s sandy soils, a relatively cooler site within McLaren Vale. Treated to 7 months in older 300L French Oak Hogs Heads.

The Wine
Light, bright cherry red. A lifted nose displaying delicate spice of clove and nutmeg with some cherry notes at the fore.

Satsuma plums and sour cherry set the tone for this crunchy and vibrant wine. Firm tannins and refreshing acidity, coupled with bright fruit round out this medium-bodied beauty.
